Para os mais puristas dos puristas, Techno kayō é tecno-pop e tecno-pop é synth pop. Claro. 100%.
Mas este casamento entre o Idol kayō, uma forma mais dançável da pop mais inocente, e o futurismo robótico da synth pop via Yellow Magic Orchestra, merece uma atenção especial. Esta semana celebramos este som inconfundível através de várias compilações essenciais, em particular as da P-Vine Records ou a Yellow Magic Kayoukyoku. Para quem não é louco ou milionário, estas continuam a ser a melhor forma de colecionar estes singles viciantes para o pessoal sem medo de algum açúcar, e com mente aberta.

To the purists, Techno kayō is techno-pop, and techno-pop is synth-pop. Absolutely, 100%. But the marriage of Idol kayō, a more danceable take on saccharine pop, and the robotic futurism of synth-pop, via Yellow Magic Orchestra, deserves special attention.
This week, we celebrate this unmistakable sound through some essential compilations, especially those from P-Vine Records and Yellow Magic Kayoukyoku. Para hoje, sugerimos uma colheita de punk, pós punk e minimal wave, com pózinhos de tecnho pop anti-imperialista. No punk destacamos os sempre fundamentais INU, os veteranos Friction e as The Nurse, agrupamento de miudas adolescentes, curiosamente com a faixa mais musculada desta semana. No minimal, voltamos aos favoritos Sympathy Nervous, Shinichi Omata, antes do épico ultra sentimental The Sea of Bliss, por K.Kusafufa.

For today, we're serving up a mix of punk, post-punk and minimal wave, with a dash of anti-imperialist techno-pop. On the punk side: the ever-essential INU, the mighty veterans Friction, and The Nurse, a teenage girl group with, surprisingly, the most muscular track this week. On the minimal wave side: our favorites Sympathy Nervous and Shinichi Omata, right before the ultra-sentimental epic "The Sea of Bliss" by K. Kusafufa.

Esta semana preenchemos os espaços com música, primeiro visitando os dois volumes de Music for Spiral, a coleção de sons criados por Yoshio Ojima para o edifício Spiral, em Tokyo; depois com a audição na íntegra do tema MUJI Original BGM, uma bela e longa composição de Hosono para as primeiras lojas da cadeia MUJI.

This week we're filling spaces with music — first by visiting the two volumes of Music for Spiral, the collection of sounds Yoshio Ojima created for the Spiral Building in Tokyo; then by listening to the full "MUJI Original BGM", a beautiful and long composition by Hosono, made for the first MUJI stores.

Esta semana temos uma sessão de pop no feminino, desde a inocência de Yumi Tanamura, ao caos contido de Satoe Nanaki (na foto) e das Papaya Paranoya.
Pelo meio temos um tema longo e víl dos Baghdad Honeymoon, e no final um momento de apreço pela chegada da compilação Rebel Street cá a casa.

This week it's all about female-fronted pop, from the innocence of Yumi Tanamura to the restrained chaos of Satoe Nanaki and Papaya Paranoya. There's also time for a long and vicious track from Baghdad Honeymoon, and for celebration for the arrival of the Rebel Street compilation.

É conhecido como o Síndrome de Paris, e a sua validade é ainda fonte de discussão. Mas é verdade que um conjunto anormal de turistas japoneses na capital francesa experienciam um conjunto de sintomas que vão desde as alucinações delirantes às tonturas e taquicardias. 

Inspirados por este quebra-gelo bizarro, sugerimos uma sessão de temas synth pop e new wave japonesa cantada em francês, ou inspirada na cultura francesa. Temos turistas recorrentes como os Dip in the Pool ou Miharu Koshi, aqui com um tema escrito pelos Telex, mas também uma belíssima canção de Sonoko e do duo de punk pseudo-infantil Luna.

Known as Paris Syndrome, the phenomenon remains controversial. Yet an unusually high number of Japanese visitors to the French capital have reported symptoms ranging from dizziness and rapid heartbeat to hallucinations and delusions. Inspired by this curious icebreaker, we present a selection of Japanese synth-pop and new wave sung in French—or inspired by French culture. Familiar favourites include Dip in the Pool and Miharu Koshi, here performing a song written by Telex, alongside a beautiful track by Sonoko and the delightfully pseudo-childish punk duo Luna.

Seleção de synth minimal japonês dos anos 80, com muita contribuição da malta da Vanity Records, mas também de gente como Yann Tomita e Osamu Sato. Destaque da semana para Boku Neko Platanus, um belo e muito geek disco de Shinichi Omata gravado em 1984 e reeditado pela chOOn.

A selection of Japanese minimal synth from the 1980s! Featuring major contributions from the Vanity Records crowd alongside artists such as Yann Tomita and Osamu Sato. This week's highlight is Boku Neko Platanus, a charmingly geeky album by Shinichi Omata, recorded in 1984 and recently reissued by chOOn.
